Home Learning Week 5

Friday 8th May

I hope you all have a wonderful celebration with your families and remember to join in the toast to the nation at 3pm.

I can't wait to see lots of lovely photographs through our twitter, email or blog!

Thursday 7th May

Good morning everyone!
I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far and are enjoying the lovely sunshine.

We are now just one more day away from celebrating VE Day and I hope you are all ready to celebrate at home with your families. I tried to buy cake cases to make some cakes but they’ve all sold out so I know everyone must be super busy baking in their kitchens. If you have been baking or decorating your houses send me a nice picture and I can post it on our blog.

Speak to you soon Year 2,

Miss Wagner

Good Morning year 2 (and year 2 parents!)

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and spent some time enjoying the sunshine!

Today I have added some more VE day activities including some recipes and ideas for how to organise your own VE day party. I am going to spend the day making some bunting to put up in my house so that I am ready to celebrate on Friday!

Looking forward to hearing from you all soon,

Additional VE day activities

Monday 4th May 2020

Good Morning Year 2,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend with your families and are ready for another week of home learning.

Firstly, this week we will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of VE day. VE day is very special because it was the day that World War 2 was declared over and the allied forces won! If you have brothers or sisters older than you, they may be able to tell you a little bit more - or even your parents and grandparents! This week I would like you to complete some very special work on VE day at home ready to celebrate on Friday. If you have access to a printer you may want to print some of the documents below out or you can design your own.

Please take lots of photographs for your VE day celebrations and tag us in them on twitter, email them into school or post them onto our blog.

Take care year 2,

VE day activities

You can go through the powerpoint with your families and then;

- Design your own VE day bunting

- Complete the Reading comprehension

- Put the World War 2 timeline in chronological order

- Design your own medal

- Choose a VE day picture from the gallery to write about. Who is in the picture? How are they feeling? Where are they?  If you where in the picture how would you feel? What might you say or do?

PE Activities from St Helens

After Joe Wicks there are daily phonics lessons for you to complete through RWI speed sounds.

  • Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am (Miss Wagner, Miss Perry's and Mrs Hewitt)

Please READ a book each day - Using home readers, Bug Club, Oxford Owl or your own books

This week I have changed your levels on Bug Club so you should have lots of new books to read through. Remember to answer the questions - there may be a hidden bug on a page in your book for you to click on.

This week we will be continuing our lessons through the Oak National Academy and reading The Firework Maker's Daughter.

This week there will be two reading lessons and you will need to answer questions and retrieve information. We did lots of that in school in our English lessons so remember to write in full sentences. There will also be two grammar lessons for you to focus on mastering your grammar skills and a writing lesson where you can use what you have learned to complete a lovely piece of writing- just like last week! I hope to see some of your final pieces of writing by the end of the week so please please email them or take a picture for the blog.

In Maths this week I would like you to continue working through the White Rose lessons.

There are four lessons to complete:-

- fact families addition and subtraction to 20

- compare number sentences

- related facts

- add and subtract ones

We have completed some work on these targets before so if you want some extra challenges you can also work in your work booklets or complete the Oak National Academy Maths.

Key Stage One Workout - Pages 20 - 23 (Measuring problems)

Key Stage One Reasoning - Pages 19 - 20 and 27-29 (Progress Test and Measure)

Remember to log into Times Tables Rockstars for around 5 minutes each day!

If you would like any extra maths activities or you have problems with your Times Table Rockstars please send me an email and I can help you.

Foundation subjects

As well as focusing on VE day this week, you can also continue working on the Oak National Academy lessons.

You will be learning about;
