Good Morning Year 2,

I hope you have all had a good week so far. I have been super busy in school this week ringing you all up and it put a big smile on my face! If you haven't had chance to speak to me yet, I will try to ring you again soon so don't worry!

Today I have added some more Come and See work for you all to complete. This time it is a little bit different. There are four lessons but you can choose the activities you do for each one. There are some writing activities and some more creative activities. If you want to do more than one that is fine! I hope you enjoy choosing!

Remember to send me an email or blog each week with your favourite piece of work you have completed that week and if you haven't logged onto any of our online pages yet please have a go today!

Have a great day and remember to make some noise this evening,

Miss Wagner

Come and See

Wednesday 13th May 2020

Hello everyone,

Yesterday it was international nurses day and also Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday! She was a fantastic nurse and she changed the way hospitals treated patients forever. As it was her birthday, today I would like you to take time to complete some work about her and the hospitals she worked in.

Using the links below I would like you to work through the Florence Nightingale powerpoint. You can then complete the following activities:-

- Read the comprehension and answer questions in your books.
- Write a fact file about Florence Nightingale using headings i.e Where was Florence Nightingale born? What did she do during the Crimean War?

- Work through the timeline powerpoint and complete your own timeline in your books.

- Go through the hospitals powerpoint and make comparisons between Victorian and Modern hospitals.

- Complete the word-search and form a wordbank of new words in your book.

- Decorate your work station with colouring pages of Florence Nightingale.

If you do not get to complete all of the activities don’t worry as I will leave them on for the rest of the week. Remember to post any of the work you do on the blog or twitter or ask your parents to send it in an email to school. If you have already sent an email in this week, thank you! I have written a post on the school blog about it 🥰

Have a wonderful day Year 2,

Miss Wagner

Monday 11th May 2020

Good morning everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend in the sunshine celebrating VE day with your families. I loved looking at all of the houses when I was out walking because they had all been decorated with red, white and blue flags. I even made my own bunting which is on our school blog for you all to see.

This week is very similar to last week and I would like you to continue working hard through the Oak National Academy lessons and White Rose Maths. As always, I will be adding new activities throughout the week so please keep checking on what has been posted. I will also be in school this week and it has been such a long time since I have seen or spoken to lots of you so be on the look out for a phone call from me to have a catch up! I am so excited to speak to you all so please don't be shy or worried, I am sure you have lots to tell me about!

I am continuing to add dojos for any emails, posts on the blog or tweets so please keep them coming in and keep logging into your online pages. The links are below to make it easier for you to access.

Have a lovely week year 2 and I will be speaking to you all very soon!

Well done to all of the children reading lots of books through bug club! I have added Dojos for every book completed.

This week we will be continuing our lessons through the Oak National Academy and reading The Firework Maker's Daughter.

Lesson 1 - You will be continuing our story and finding the meaning of different words.

Lesson 2 - You will be making inferences about the book. This is something we have done lots of already in school so you should enjoy doing this.

Lesson 3 - This lesson will focus on different sentence types. You will need to make sure you use capital letters and the correct punctuation to end your sentence i.e. full stops, question marks and exclamation marks.

Lesson 4 - This lesson will focus on recounts. A recount tells you of events that have already happened and you will be identifying the features used within them.

Lesson 5 - Finally, your written piece of work this week is to write a recount of your own based on what you have heard in the story.
