Holy Week and Easter support

Happy Feel Good Friday!

Good morning year 2!

Today is the last day before we break up for 2 weeks for the Easter Holidays and school will still be open for some so I do not want your learning to stop! I have created a chart of fun activities I think you might like to do with your families ranging from praying together to designing, making and having an Easter Egg hunt around your home. You can find this in the documents for today along with some other resources I have found to help you.

This morning, I would like you to concentrate on your phonics, reading and maths but the afternoon will be similar to last week - I would like you to have a creative, fun afternoon. Go for a walk, make a den, act out your favourite story, introduce your family to GO NOODLE, take some time out to create something or you may simply want to draw, write a diary entry or a story....I will leave it up to you and your family.

Please do keep posting the things you are doing onto our blog or tag me on twitter over the holidays and most of all STAY WELL AND SAFE!

Hoping to see you all soon,

Miss Wagner

Thursday 2nd April 2020

Good Morning Year 2,

You have had a very busy week so far completing lots of work on Science and Come and See. Today I would like you to think about our Geography topic - continents and oceans. Have a look at the map in your pack and research one of the places. Write down at least 5 key facts in your books for the place you research. You can also get creative and draw your own maps if you like.

Have a great day year 2 and remember to clap and cheer at 8pm to show the key workers that we are grateful for everything they are doing.

Happy April Fool's Day!

Traditionally April Fool's day is a day when people play make jokes or play tricks on their friends. I think some of you may be able to play a joke or a trick on your families so have fun today but remember, tricks can only be played until 12 noon! Any tricks after that make you the fool.

I have attached an April Fool's day reading activity to the page for you to use when you are doing your reading. You need to choose which activity you do - 1 star, 2 star or 3 star. The reading gets trickier as you go along so choose carefully!

Have a great day year 2 and remember to post any pictures or messages to our school blog or twitter page - I have written comments on everything you have posted so far.

Missing you all lots

Good Afternoon Year 2!

Well done to all of the children that have already posted or designed their avatar on our Blog! The blog is a great way for us all to keep in touch especially if you are missing your friends in school!

Remember I would love to give out lots of dojos so if you are unsure ask your parents or older siblings to help you post safely.

Monday 30th March

Good Morning Year 2,

I hope you had a relaxing weekend and are ready for week 2 of our home learning.

Your maths work this week is to complete the lessons on the White Rose Maths website. There are videos to watch and then you can complete the worksheets afterwards. You do not need to print the worksheets out, you can write the answers in your books. If you did not complete all of the week 1 lessons please do these first and then move onto week 2.

Last week I asked you to start creating a diary so it would be good to continue this. A diary would be an excellent way to record the events of this time so remember to include your feelings, what you did and what you have seen. I look forward to seeing these when you return to school and hopefully one day you will be able to read your diary entries to your own children or grandchildren.

Remember to also complete your daily reading and online activities. This week, I will be giving dojo's out for all the work I see through the blog or twitter so please remember to log in and follow us @TeresaCatholic and @MissWagner18

Have a great day year 2. I miss you all and hope to see you soon!

Friday 27th March

Good Afternoon Year 2!

I hope you had a great feel good Friday! I enjoyed watching the live videos of the penguins and red pandas in Chester Zoo! Penguins are my favourite animal and it was fun to watch them swimming around on a nice sunny day.

Next week, I would love to see a post from everyone on our new blog page. You can write a message, post a picture or just simply say Hello!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe!

Miss Wagner

Feel Good Friday

Friday 27th March

Happy Feel Good Friday!

Well done if you joined in with our clap for the carers last night. It was lovely to see so many people outside their houses cheering and celebrating all of the amazing work done by the NHS and other key workers.

For our maths work today I have attached the link to the White Rose Home Learning page. They have some videos for you to watch and you can complete the questions at the end of each video.  You do not need to work in your Maths workbooks today!

The rest of the day will be a little bit different because I would like you to be more creative - spend some time drawing, acting, singing, dancing, writing a story....whatever you like to make yourselves feel good! I have also seen that Chester Zoo are putting on live videos from the animals in the Zoo today so take a look from 10am and see what animals you can learn about!

Don't forget to log into your time tables rock stars, read books on the Bug Club and post on our school blog!

Have a great day laugh

Good afternoon Year 2!

I hope you have all had another wonderful day in the sunshine!

Well done if you have already completed your avatar on our new school blog! They are all looking fantastic and I enjoyed reading the messages you have written about yourself. If there are any children having problems accessing the blog please contact us in school so we can help you.

Finally, this evening the whole nation will be joining together to clap for our NHS at 8pm. Please remember to join in with your family and show the doctors, nurses, pharmacists and all other key workers our appreciation.

Good Morning Year 2,

Now that our blog is set up I am hoping to see lots of posts from you all showing off your fantastic home learning.

You should now be starting to find a little bit of a routine and have your own way of doing things. In school we are starting the day with our Joe Wicks workout and then completing the work set by our teachers. We are also having lots of free time to play outside and enjoy games together...On Tuesday we played with the parachute and put each other to the test with a round of countdown! Mrs Burrows and I were amazed at some of the words the children made! Why not have a go with your family?

Have you completed any science experiments yet? There are lots of experiments you can complete with different materials. See if you can identify some different materials in your home and discuss their properties. It may also be quite fun to see which materials you can stretch, bend, twist and squash. I look forward to hearing about your findings!

Have a great day year 2 and I will chat to you all later!

Wednesday 25th March 2020

Good Afternoon Year 2,

I hope you are all having a good day- I wish it was this sunny all the time!

Your parents should have received a parent mail message today with instructions on how to log in to our new school blog. On the blog you can post messages and pictures for all your friends to see. I will be checking the blog everyday and approving new posts so please send them in to us.

Speak to you soon,

Miss Wagner

Wednesday 25th March 2020

Good Morning Year 2 and welcome to day 3 of our home learning.

I hope you had a great day yesterday and enjoyed reading the stories about Dogger and James and his friends.

After your daily Joe Wicks workout at 9am, you should continue to work on your phonics. Choose a sound and think of words to write using that sound. RWI are offering free phonics sessions each day so you could tie this activity in with the clips on youtube. See yesterday's post for the link and the times they are available for your group.

After phonics, you should complete the next 2 pages in your maths books. If you did not complete all of your work yesterday you can also carry on with this. Please look at today's power point for your 5 a day questions and answers for yesterday.

Remember to also complete your daily reading through Bug Club, Oxford Owl or the reading books given to you. Choose your favourite book so far and complete a book review on it. There is a template in today's documents for you to print if you are able. If you are not able to print the template you can ask an adult or brother/sister to write some headings for you.

For today's writing activity I will include a picture and some questions for you to answer in your books. Remember to write in full sentences and not just one word answers.

Have a great day year 2 and I will check in with you later. Missing you all lots!

Tuesday 24th March

Good Afternoon Year 2,

I hope you are having a lovely day! The sun is shining again so it might be nice to take your learning into your garden this afternoon.

This afternoon we are busy painting rainbows for our school windows so if you haven't already made one you could do it this afternoon and put it in your window to remind everyone to keep safe while we are home learning.

It was great to see some of your working out this morning on twitter, keep those photos coming in!

Speak to you soon,

Miss Wagner

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Good Morning Year 2,

I hope you all enjoyed your first day of home learning and were able to complete all of your activities. Although it is strange being away from school and you may be tempted to watch your favourite cartoons or play with your toys, it is important that you listen to your parents and carers as they try to help you with your learning. Remember, Miss Wagner likes to give out lots of Dojo's so it could be a good idea to start this up at home.

As it is still Lent and we promised to pray more during this special time I would like you all to say a little prayer, before you start your learning today, for all of the special people helping to keep our country happy, safe and healthy at the moment. We are surrounded by amazing people and it is important to be thankful for all that they do and for all that we have. In school, we will also spend a few moments praying before we complete our Joe Wicks workout. The link below will take you to the school prayer book for ideas of prayers you can say together with your family.
