Hello Year 1,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Noah, Oliver and I watched the thunder and lightning on Saturday night. Did any of you see it too?
Can you believe this is week 10 of our home learning? Keep up the hard work and I will see you all soon.
Don’t forget to keep in touch with the blogg, twitter or email school.
Have a good week.

Recap the sound from the phonics at home booklet, write five words with the sound into your books. Can you put some of these words into a sentence?
Play a phonic game on Education City.
I would like you to complete the five English lessons from the Oak Academy (Link below, click on picture) This week’s story is called ‘The Man on the Moon’ you will write a recount as if you were an astronaut.
In maths, I would like you to continue using the White Rose Daily lessons. This week we are learning about Multiplication and division. I am aware some of you will have already covered this content earlier in the lockdown period. If this is the case, there are alternative lessons to complete.

Come and See (RE)
NEW TOPIC Being Sorry
LEARNING FOCUS 3: God helps us to be kind.
Think about the stories of Levi and Zacchaeus form last week. Do you think they found it easy to change their ways and to be sorry? It is not easy to do this by ourselves, but God is there to help us, just as Jesus helped Levi and Zacchaeus.
Read God’s Story 2 pages 48-49, God’s promise based on Isaiah 58: 9-11. Isaiah wrote about God’s forgiveness, even before Jesus came to earth. He made it clear what good choices we need to make to be kind and to make ourselves and others happy.
Can you choose one of these ideas from the scripture and make a promise card? Explain in words or pictures how you will act on this promise.
Can you draw a candle and write words that will show how you can be kind and ‘be a light that shines in the dark’?
LEARNING FOCUS 4: Recognise that we need forgiveness.
Think about the previous session and how when we need help, God answers, ‘Here I am’. Using the picture and text on Church’s Story 2 page 44, talk about the words ‘sorry’ and ‘forgive’ and what they mean. These are more than just words – we need to mean what we say. It may take a little time before we understand that what we have done has made others and ourselves unhappy. Refer to Church’s Story 2 pages 46-47. It is good at the end of the day to stop and think about what has happened during the day.
Can you think about the good things that have happened and say, ‘Thank you!’ to God for them? Then think about the wrong choices you have made and say ‘Sorry!’
The Oak academy has some fantastic foundation lessons prepared. Please click on each lesson title for the link.
In today’s lesson we are going to be learning all about Neil Armstrong. Neil is an astronaut from Ohio in America who made history. He was the first man to walk on the moon. We will be listening and drawing the story of his incredible life. Get your space suit ready so we can blast off into space!
In today’s lesson we are going to be learning all about Valentina Tereshkova. She was the first woman to go into space! We will be listening to and drawing the story of her phenomenal life. Get your space suit ready so we can blast off into space!
In this lesson we are going to be learning all about the wind. Wind is when air moves. We cannot see wind but we can see it moving objects around us. We will then be looking at types of wind and conducting a wind logging experiment.
Today we will be studying a spectacular artist called Wassily Kandinsky. He was a Russian artist known for using lots of colours and shapes in his artwork. We will be recreating our own Kandinsky-inspired artwork. You will need some paints or colouring pencils for today’s lesson.
