Children will have 'Caterpillar Words' to practice at home and they will have an opportunity to practice these with a member of staff during the week too.
The year 1 Come and See topic for this term is Families.
Our key questions for the topic are;
We will be learning about God's love in the Bible and reading some stories that show how He showed love to us all.
This term we will be doing lots of counting - up to 100 eventually, along with addition and subtraction to 20.
Children will continue to work on their number formation.
We will be working on the recognising and using language relating to dates, including days of the week, weeks, months and years.
This term Year 1 children will be writing about animals, focusing on the use of adjectives and simple conjunctions such as 'and' and 'but'.
Of course, we will continue to focus on basic skills such as capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Children will be encouraged to use 'Fred Fingers' to sound out words before writing them down.
Veterinary Surgery
We have set up a Veterinary Surgery in our classroom so that the children have an opportunity to role play. The children are having a lot of fun playing in this area and have saved the lives of many stuffed animals already!
During 'play' in this area, children are encouraged to write instructions, appointment cards and receipts and etc. A perfect way to learn through play.
