Year 6

Class Teacher - Mrs Moore

Class Teaching Assistant - Mrs Hewitt

Welcome to Year 6’s class page! Here you find an overview of what the children are learning about throughout this busy term.

We will update this page with news, pictures and all the exciting things that have been going on.

W/c: 11.09.17

We have been describing dragons in English, looking at different ways to calculate mentally in Maths, classifying living things in Science and researching Long Ships and their importance to Vikings in History! Roll on next week for another busy week!

Reception Buddies!

This week we met up with our buddies to get to know them before our Welcome Mass. Here are a few photos...

WC 25.09.17

This week we FINALLY made it down to the allotment with Mr Leather. We planted our spring bulbs and cleared the plot for other classes to visit. It was hard work but we enjoyed it! Here are some photos...

Allotment visit - Number 1!

W/c 02.10.17

What a busy few weeks we've had! We're nearly at the end of our first novel: How to train your dragon and we're a bit surprised that it is so different from the film. We've been learning a lot about the Vikings, USA and now Art. We've met our new student teachers (Miss Harold and Miss Doonan) They're very nice and will be teaching us soon!

W/C: 16.10.17

The final week of our half term is here! We have been completing some past SAT papers this week to see how the process will work in May and also to give us a taster of how the papers will be worded. Mrs Moore was so pleased with our hard work, we had a K'nex afternoon on Friday to celebrate.

Here are some of our opinions about this half term:

Thomas - I liked the SATs papers we completed.

Owen - I like the 3D drawing we did in Art.

Hollie - So far in Year 6, it has been amazing. Mrs Moore is making the lessons fun (for now!)

Isobel - I've enjoyed English and the writing assessment too as I love writing!

Luke- I like how the work has got harder!

Adam Q - This half term I've enjoyed having fun and being given hard work.

Charlie M - Year 6 so far has been challenging but it is going very well so far.

W/c 13th November: Judaism Week

This week in RE we have been learning all about Judaism. We were lucky enough to have some Jewish artefacts brought in by Miss Doonan. We had lots of fun reflecting on our own learning.

Ambassador Day 1st December

This afternoon we invited our parents in to show how we do maths in Y6. We planned some challenging activities for them and most parents were stumped! We had 5 teams : Fractions, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, BODMAS and an iPad group. Parents learnt a lot from us!

Thank you to everyone who came.
