Introduction to the VINES Curriculum:
Our VINES Curriculum has been designed by St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School to be a bespoke, unique and exciting learning experience which aims to encourage resilience and determination, inspire children to reach their full potential and to nurture a love of learning and self-worth. Within our broad and balanced approach, we place a high importance on instilling our Catholic ethos, both our school and the British values and promoting health and well-being with reading and vocabulary development being at the heart of everything we do.
Our carefully considered approach to subjects and lesson structure provides opportunities to build on both knowledge and skills and to constantly revisit and draw upon previous learning. Subjects are discreetly taught (using the National Curriculum as a basis) and focused upon progressively developing pupils’ talents, potential, confidence, knowledge, skills, and key vocabulary.
Purpose
The purpose of our curriculum is to ensure that are children are successful in life and in learning no matter what their starting points or barriers to learning may be. The vines symbolise the relationship God has with his children. The vineyard flourishes under the tender care of God, the keeper of the vineyard. The children of God receive life and fruitfulness from Christ, the true vine, just as God promised. As a school, our curriculum sets high expectations for each and every child, meaning that we are relentless in our commitment to overcoming any barriers faced by our children and to developing children who are self-motivated in their pursuit and love of learning.
Our VINES Curriculum:
Instil the Gospel, our school and British Values through valuable learning opportunities that build upon knowledge and skills
Inspire children to reach their full potential and create articulate and independent learners
Nurture a love of learning and self worth
Encourage resilience and determination
Showcase skills in a safe, inclusive environment
We have used our VINES Curriculum to develop VINES principles as the driver to the design of our lessons across the curriculum.
