MORE WORK AND PLAY IN RECEPTION

WK Beginning 27/02/23

This week we have been learning all about life in the polar regions.  We have loved learning about what the weather is like in these places and which animals live in the Arctic and which in the Antarctic. We helped to rescue several animals from blocks of ice and thought of lots of creative ways of how we could do this.  We found that using warm water was the quickest way, although our favourite was using the wooden hammers to 'smash' them out!  We continue to work hard on our reading, writing and number work and are becoming quite the experts at ordering numbers and finding all the different ways to make 10.

Today we have enjoyed a range of activities to celebrate World Book Day, the children looked amazing.  There are some very creative parents out there.

Have a great weekend x

Chinese New Year Fun

Week Beg:23/01/23

This week we have been learning all about Chinese New Year, we have enjoyed making dragons, lanterns, money envelopes and other craft activities.  On Thursday we tasted noodles, rice and prawn crackers, the children certainly enjoyed these...we couldn't keep up with the requests of...'can we have more please?'  We finished the week off with dance and music in the hall, some of us even got to wear traditional Chinese clothes.  We have also been learning the days of the week, keeping a diary of what we do each day and thinking about our favourite.   It was lovely to hear that many of their favourite days were Monday to Friday because, 'I love playing with my friends' or 'I like learning in school' or 'I like pizza Friday'. The children eagerly asked which was my favourite,  I assured them that my favourite day is Monday 'because I love coming to school after a rest and seeing their smiley faces!'

Have a lovely weekend! smiley

Christmas film treat day

Another busy week in Reception!

Week Beg 21/11/22

This week started with our World Cup day, we looked at all the different teams in the competition and found some of them on the globe.  Each class in the school has been given a different country to research and learn a little about.  Our country is Spain.  We had lots of fun painting Spanish flags, learning to speak a little Spanish, flamenco dancing and making cakes topped with the Spanish Flag.  We also had time to watch England's first match and enjoyed cheering (very loudly) each time a goal was scored...I ended up going home with a little earache! wink

We are all working so hard during our RWI phonic sessions and enjoying writing at every opportunity, especially when we can go and show off our work to other teachers around our school.  In our number work we have been focusing on numbers to 5 and investigating different ways of making 5, we have particularly enjoyed making 'sandwiches' with the numicon and loved correcting their 'silly' teacher who can't order numbers to 5! My favourite comment being "Mrs Wright you don't know very much do you!' laugh

Week Beg 14/11/22

Dear Parents/Carers and Children,

I wanted to send out a huge congratulations to you all for a wonderful first half term in school, the children have settled in so well and always arrive and leave with huge smiles on their faces.  They have enjoyed making new friends and trying new activities, showing enthusiasm and energy...I'm certainly ready for a rest this week.wink  Each week I will upload some photographs of our time in Reception so you can see a little of what we have been learning, as I know from experience you will get a variety of 'I don't know', 'I've forgot', 'nothing' or 'just played all day'.

Below you will find a little snippet of what we have been up to during our first half term.

I look forward to getting to know you all this year and developing our partnership to provide the best education for your child.

Have a good half term and see you all soon.

Take care

We have been working so hard to learn our letter sounds and many of us are now trying to read our very first words.  Take a look at these videos and practice the sounds we have learnt so far.

Hi Children, Parents/Carers,

We have had a great week in Reception, even though we have all gone home tired after our first full week...teachers included!  It has been lovely to see all of your characters start to blossom and watch you enjoy school.  This week we met our Year 6 buddies for the first time and enjoyed our New Beginners Welcome Service, watch out for the photographs on our page coming soon!  We have also been busy learning our new sounds, remember to watch the videos below to practice these sounds.

Have a lovely weekend.  See you all next week.

Love Mrs Wright x

Welcome to Reception PowerPoint

Reception 2019/20

Hi everyone,

I can't believe we are already in our last week of Reception together...how the time has flown by!  It has been wonderful to see your smiling faces back in school, enjoying time with your friends and continuing on your learning journey...you are all definitely ready for year 1 now.  I thought your parents would like to see a little of what we have been up to since we returned from lockdown, so I have attached a few slideshows of our time together. I hope you get as much enjoyment from looking at the photographs as we did making the memories.

Lots of Love

Mrs Wright xx
